DEVELOPMENT BANK OF NAMIBIA
The Development Bank of Namibia provides finance for viable enterprises and sustainable initiatives that contribute to the development of Namibia. DBN’s loan facilities assist businesses to start or to expand their existing business operations.
DBN offers the following type of finance, among others:
- – Contract (Tender) Based Finance – To meet short-term cash flow needs of a business, where there is an underlying contract or off-take agreement to carry out a certain activity.
- – Guarantees – For a guarantee to a contracting employer to pay a certain amount of money in the event of damages due to under-performance.
- – Business Finance – To satisfy medium to long term enterprise financial needs
- – Business Acquisition Finance – For a buy-in (acquisition of interest by external managers) or buy-out (acquisition of interest by existing internal managers)
- – Property Development Finance – For development of low to middle income residential property, and industrial and commercial property
- – Commercial Project Finance – For acquisition or construction of immovable commercial property or making improvements to fixed commercial property
- – Project Finance – For privately owned infrastructure projects
Eligibility
- – Viable start-up of a business with potential for sustainability.
- – Expansion of an existing business.
- – Management buy-in, into an existing business.
- – Management buy-out (take-over) of a business.
- – Project finance.
- – Asset finance (as part of a business proposal).
- – Contract based finance.
- – Franchise financing.
DBN funding is aligned to the NDP priority sectors, with focus on: Infrastructure Development; Manufacturing; Tourism; Telecommunications and Logistics.
Volume:
- – Minimum financing volume: N$ 150, 000.00.
- – Maximum financing volume: based on project need and appetite for financing.
Application procedure
- – Completion of DBN Application form.
- – Submission of a Business Plan and supporting documents – page 13 to 15 of application form.
Application Deadlines
Application process takes on average six (6) to eight (8) weeks – if all required documentation and information is provided and depending on project. Complex and big applications can take much longer because of due diligence involved.
