The American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) is the AAMC's centralized medical school application processing service. Regardless of the number of medical schools to which you apply, you submit just one online application to the AMCAS system. Most U.S. medical schools use the AMCAS program as the primary application method for their entering classes.

The AMCAS program is only available to the first-year entering classes at participating U.S. medical schools. Advanced standing and transfer applicants should contact the medical schools directly for assistance. The AMCAS program does not render any admission decisions and does not advise applicants where to apply. To learn more about medical school admissions requirements, visit the Medical School Admission Requirements™ (MSAR®) online database.

Additional Services

AMCAS Letter Service
Most medical schools participate in AMCAS Letters. You can have just one set of letters of evaluation sent to the AMCAS program, which will then be distributed to the schools you selected in your application.

AAMC-Facilitated Criminal Background Check Service
Most medical schools also participate in the Criminal Background Check Service. The Background Check Report is available to the conditionally accepted applicant for ten calendar days before it is released to the medical school.
